"ALMATY ASIAN CUP 2018" will be held in Almaty

On August 4-5, for the first time in Almaty, Triathlon Asian Asian Cup 2018 will be held under the auspices of the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC), which unites 22 countries.

According to the results of the competition, the organizers plan to identify the strongest athletes, improve the skills of Kazakhstan triathletes and popularize the triathlon in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On the first day, athletes from Belgium, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Australia, Syria, Luxembourg, Hungary, Austria, South Korea, Taipei, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Japan and Kazakhstan will take part in the competition. Professional athletes will compete in the sprint distance, these are 3 stages, consisting of 750 meters of swimming + 20 km of cycling + 5 km of running.

In this category, Kazakhstan among men will be represented by: Ayan Beysenbayev, Temirlan Temirov, Daryn Konysbayev, Meirlan Iskakov, Semyon Pivovarov, Maxim Kryat, Alexander Avtushko and Sabyrzhan Kosak. And among women in the competition will be Arina Shulgina, Anastasia Avtushko, Ashraf Kamalova, Nadezhda Bekmaganbetova, Yana Morozova and Gaziza Kumakbaeva.

On August 5, Age Group athletes will test their strength at the “standard” distance, this is 1.5 km swimming + 40 km bicycle stage + 10 km run.

To date, registration for the competition is closed, 58 Elite category athletes have registered for participation in the competition, of which 41 are men and 17 are women. And among the Age Group athletes 193 athletes took part, among them: 163 athletes in the individual standings and 10 relay teams. The venue for a large-scale sports event will be Lake Sairan.

“This weekend, the southern capital is taking a big triathlon sports festival,” said Maxim Kryat, Secretary General of the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation. - Almaty meets the triathlon Asian Cup at the sprint distance. This scale triathlon competition will be held for the first time in the city. A whole sports town built near Lake Sairan. Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation together with the Triathlon Federation of Almaty and city administration make maximum efforts to make this event at a traditionally high level. Also, athletes of the national team were well prepared for this event. The leaders of our team - Ayan Beysenbayev, Daryn Konysbayev and Arina Shulgina came to this start in the best physical form. We wait for the victory of our athletes!”

At the same time, the technical delegates who recently arrived in Almaty on behalf of the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC), Mr. Bayamba Tsgaanbaatar and his assistants, held a retreat at the competition venue, during which delegates checked the distance, examined water samples and its temperature. Following the meeting, international experts made sure that the object was in compliance with international requirements and ITU standards.

“Today we checked up the places where the swimming, cycling and running stages of the Almaty Asian Cup will be held,” says Mr. Bayamba Tsgaanbaatar. - The first thing that impressed us is the level of preparation, which turned out to be much higher than we expected to see. It is very good. It is also really gratifying that Kazakhstan is very serious about developing a triathlon in the country and is setting such big ambitions as holding the World Cup stages here. We believe that this continental Cup will help determine the favorites of the upcoming Asian Games. I wish all athletes a good race! ”

After such a good assessment by the international delegate, it is obvious that this stage of the Asian Cup will “enhance the status” of the man-made reservoir in the center of the huge metropolis - Lake Sayran will become a place of attraction for citizens and guests of the city.
