IRONMAN 70.3 Astana Results

On June 16-17, 2018, in Astana, one of the brightest events in the world was the triathlon "BI Group Ironman 70.3 Astana 2018", in which more than 1,000 athletes from 47 countries of the world took part, including 700 Kazakhstani athletes.

Traditionally, the race started on June 16, 2018 among children aged 5 to 17 years who competed in running and duathlon. The children showed high sports activity and were glad to such a sports holiday.

On June 17, during the main competitions consisting of overcoming a distance of 70.3 miles or 113 km (swim - 1.9 km, bike - 90 km and running - 21.1 km). Along with famous athletes of the international level, triathlon fans took part, including Representatives of the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation. Thus, Vice-President of KTF and President of the Almaty Triathlon Federation Galimzhan Yessenov, Executive Director of KTF Assylzhan Dostiyarov, Vice-President and Secretary General of the Astana Triathlon Federation Ilya Mescheryakov and Sayat Batpenov, President of the Akmola Triathlon Federation Sandybek Kasenov, President of the Karaganda Triathlon Federation Dmitry Mashentsev, Federation members Nariman Zhaparov and Murat Aubakirov. Presidents of Kostanay and South Kazakhstan Federations Yuri Grinev and Dandybai Alimbayev took part in the competition as judges. Colleagues showed not only good final results, but also showed a commitment to a healthy lifestyle through a personal example and contributed to the popularization of triathlon throughout Kazakhstan.

Such honored guests as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, KTF President Karim Massimov, KTF Vice-Presidents Dauren Zhaksybek and Aydin Rakhimbayev and KTF General Secretary Maxim Kryat came to support triathlets.

Note that the capital is the first city in the CIS, where the first prestigious race from the Ironman series was held. The event is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Astana and contributes to the promotion of the image of the sports capital in the international arena.
