Central Asian triathlon continues to develop

The second meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Asian Triathlon Association (СATA), which includes the national triathlon federations of five countries - Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, was held today in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The meeting, chaired by СATA President Galimzhan Yesыenov, was attended by СATA members - СATA Senior Vice President Chyngyz Alkanov, СATA Vice President Farrukh Nasyrov, СATA Secretary General Maxim Krut and СATA Executive Secretary Ainagul Takeeva. The honored guest of the meeting was the President of the Uzbekistan Triathlon Federation Otabek Umarov.

The agenda included several such significant issues as the approval of the СATA official website, the election of committee leaders that were created during the Second СATA Congress, the holding of the first official competitions under the auspices of СATA, the СATA ranking system, the inclusion of new members in the association, the holding of joint training camps and others.

As a result of the meeting, a number of important decisions were made that determine the further direction of the association. So, a member of the Board of Trustees of Almaty Triathlon Federation Valikhan Ten (Kazakhstan) was elected the head of the CATA Media Committee. Jasur Tajiyev (Uzbekistan) was elected the leader of the Right Committee. The Sports Committee was headed by Kanat Kelsinbekov, and the leadership of the Paratriathlon Committee was entrusted to the Secretary General of the Kyrgyz Republic Triathlon Federation Elena Lyzhina-Polchenkova.

The first transnational race of Shymkent-Tashkent was scheduled for May 3, 2020. The delegates also decided to hold the First Central Asian Triathlon Championship separately from stages of the Asian Cup. Such cities as Samarkand and Almaty claim to host such an important event. The Kyrgyz side will be in charge of organizing and conducting the first CATA paratriathlon race. Perhaps the most interesting decision for Kazakh athletes can be considered that some stages of the national triathlon tournament among Kazakhstani Ag Groupers, the TEMIRADAM Cup, will be held at the international level in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Such good news was remembered by the Second meeting of the CATA Executive Committee. While active work has begun on the tasks received at the meeting, Kazakhstan amateur athletes are looking forward to the start of a new triathlon season, which promises to be more eventful.
