The representative of Japan, Ai Ueda (Ai Ueda) was able to demonstrate a wonderful race and won gold. By the decision of the chief technical delegate, the format of today's “Olympic” triathlon was changed to duathlon (5 km run, 40 km run, 10 km run) due to questions regarding water analysis, which one of the most experienced triathletes in the world, Ai Ueda, managed to quickly adapt and finish a race with a wonderful result - 1 hour 56 minutes and 38 seconds. A silver medal was awarded to Carolyn Hayes from Ireland for 1 hour 56 minutes and 55 seconds. The top three was closed by British Kate Waugh with a time of 1 hour 57 minutes 28 seconds.

“I have invested all my strength in the last 10 kilometers,” Ai Ueda said, “I look forward to the upcoming Asian Championships and will gradually enter the pace after the injury in Abu Dhabi. Returning to the podium pleases and gives a lot of strength for my first start in the WTS.”

The men had a lot of competition in the race, because eminent athletes who were in the TOP-best triathletes of the international ITU ranking were announced at the start. But still, the best time was 1 hour 43 minutes and 51 seconds showed by Matthew Hauser from Australia, who won the previous World Cup in Chengdu. Second place went to Wian Sullwald from South Africa, who lost 13 seconds to the leader. In just 4 seconds, US representative Matthew McElroy lost to Vian and became the third.

“I really wanted to prove myself at this distance and I’m very glad that I managed to keep a high pace of running at the final stage,” says Hauser, “I gained enough experience and confidence in the mixed relay race format and wanted to prove some important things for myself today moments. I am very pleased that I had the speed to get ahead of Vian at the finish line.”
