Our Athletes won nother gold of the Asian Triathlon Championship
The third competitive day of the Asian Triathlon Championships in Gyeongju has ended. Today, the youngest athletes U15, who competed in the super-sprint distance (400 m swimming, 10 km cycling and 2.5 km running), started the race, the race between mixed relay teams also took place.
A total of 19 relay teams competed. Kazakhstan was represented by two teams: the first included Daryn Konysbaev, Daria Bychkova, Ayan Beisenbaev, Ashraf Kamalova, and the second included Semen Pivovarov, Gaziza Kumakbaeva, Meirlan Iskakov, Nadezhda Bekmaganbetova. The teams left the swimming stage in a tight group, but at the narrow entrance to the transit zone, the girls fell, which caused a lag of more than 2 minutes. Team members made every effort to reduce the gap and the first team was able to finish in 6th position.
The hero of the day was Alexander Ten, who won the gold medal in the competition. Alexander completed the swimming program in the leading group. Further, at the bike stage, he was able to break away from the main group, along with athletes from Hong Kong and South Korea. At the final stage, the young champion literally snatched a victory from an opponent from South Korea.
It should be noted that the Asian Triathlon Championship, which was the most productive for the Kazakhstan national team, ended. There were 2 gold medals of Daryn Konysbaev and Alexander Ten, 2 bronze medals of Arina Shulgina and Meirlan Iskakov. According to the results of the championship, Kazakhstan took the second place in the unofficial team medal standings.
