29th Annual Asia Triathlon Congress: Kazakhstan will host Continental Championship
The 29th Annual Asia Triathlon Congress was held today following the conclusion of the Hatsukaichi Asian Championships. The Congress was attended by representatives of 25 Asia national federations, including Kazakhstan. World Triathlon management and Executive Board members also attended.
During the online conference, reports were heard from the President, Secretary General, Chief Treasurer and Asia Triathlon Sports Development Officer. Members of Congress unanimously adopted an innovation in the Constitution to include in the calendar the new ecent - Asian Sprint Championship. A new member was admitted to the Asia Triathlon - the national triathlon federation of Saudi Arabia.
At the same time, at the virtual meeting, the local organizing committees of the next major tournaments in Asia presented their events:
- 2020 Tokyo Olympic & Paralympic Games;
- 2021 Asia Triathlon U23, Junior and MR Championships, Nur-Sultan;
- 2021 Asia Triathlon Sprint Championships, Cholpon-Ata;
- The 19th Hangzhou Asian Games 2022.
Thus, Kazakhstan received the right to host the Asian Championship among athletes of the U23, Junior and mixed relay categories. The event, which will be held for the first time in Central Asia, is scheduled for September 3-5 in Nur-Sultan.
