Historic Gold for Kazakhstan at the Asian Junior Triathlon Championships
On March 14–15, in Hong Kong, the Asian Junior Triathlon Championships took place, where athletes of the Kazakhstan national triathlon team achieved an outstanding and truly historic result, winning gold and bronze medals at the continental event.
The standout performer of the competition was Kazakhstan’s triathlete Diana Yerzhanova, who delivered a confident and mature performance throughout the race. She crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:01:59, finishing ahead of strong competitors from Japan and South Korea — Kanade Sugiura (1:02:16) and Seoeun Park (1:02:43), who claimed second and third place respectively.
This victory holds special historical significance for Kazakhstan’s sport. Diana Yerzhanova became the first junior female athlete from Kazakhstan to win a gold medal at the Asian Triathlon Championships during the country’s period of independence. Her triumph reflects years of systematic preparation, a high level of athletic performance, and the dedicated work of the national team’s coaching staff.
Another strong result came from Kazakhstan’s Ramazan Ainegov, who delivered an impressive performance in the men’s race. Finishing with a time of 55:39, he secured the bronze medal in a highly competitive field. The gold and silver medals were claimed by Japan’s Konosuke Uchida (55:22) and Daiki Nishizaki (55:34).
The strong performances of Kazakhstan’s triathletes in Hong Kong once again highlighted the growing potential of the national team. The athletes demonstrated excellent physical preparation, tactical awareness, and true competitive spirit, proudly representing Kazakhstan on the continental stage.
The medals won by the Kazakhstan national triathlon team at the Asian Championships mark an important step in strengthening the country’s position in Asian triathlon.
