Kazakhstan team successfully performed at the Central Asian Triathlon Championship

On June 29 in Cholpon-Ata, one of the most significant sports events of the past week was held - the Asian Cup and the Central Asian Triathlon Championship. The Cup was held under the auspices of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) on the shore of Issyk-Kul and it was attended by more than 90 athletes from Serbia, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Syria, Uzbekistan, Iran, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Romania, Japan, Taipei and the Russian Federation. Triathletes fought for prizes in the sprint distance - 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running.

22 triathletes arrived in Issyk-Kul to represent Kazakhstan: 5 women and 17 men, most of whom won the podium and won a total of 4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

In the Elite category among men, the “gold” of the Central Asian Championship was won by a member of the youth team Temirlan Temirov (Akmola region), who showed a result of 1 hour 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Silver was won by Anton Vitolin (Almaty) with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 22 seconds. The athlete from Iran Behzad Nbari Poir was awarded the “Bronze” (1 hour 2 minutes 42 seconds).

The prize places of the Central Asian Championship in the Elite women category were also won by our athletes. Gaziza Kumakbaeva (Almaty) became the champion with a result of 1 hour 13 minutes and 48 seconds. Daria Bychkova (Almaty) was awarded a silver medal in 1 hour 15 minutes and 7 seconds.

The climax of the day was the event when, in the U23 category, all three prizes of the Central Asian Championship were taken by the triathletes of our team. Meirlan Iskakov (Akmola region, 59 minutes 29 seconds) became the leader, Daryn Konysbaev (Nur-Sultan, 59 minutes 50 seconds) finished second, Semyon Pivovarov (Shymkent, 1 hour 1 minute 15 seconds) finished on the third place.

The first in the junior category was Alexander Reshetnikov from Uzbekistan with a result of 1 hour 1 minute and 20 seconds. Denis Tunitsky (Akmola region) lost 6 seconds to the leader and became the second. The third place was taken by Daniil Zubtsov (Shymkent) with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 57 seconds.

In the U15 category, athletes competed in the super-sprint distance - 350 m swimming, 8,5 km cycling and 2,5 races. Among the youths, their advantage over rivals was demonstrated by Alexander Ten (Almaty), who recently won the Asian Championship. His time is 32 minutes and 50 seconds. More than 2 minutes, another Almaty athlete Yegor Krupyakov lost to him and won the second place. The girls in this category distinguished themselves Hafiza Gulturaeva (Shymkent), who won the bronze medal for the result of 43 minutes and 39 seconds.

In general, the performance of the national team in Cholpon-Ata was successful and productive, even more points were added to the rating of our athletes and more gold was won in the piggy bank of the country.
