2 GOLD AND 3 SILVER: KAZAKHSTAN ON THE ASIA CUP PODIUM IN TURKESTAN

Turkestan, August 9, 2026. The second stage of the Asia Triathlon Cup Turkestan 2026 international tournament has concluded in Turkestan. The first stage was held in Astana on June 20–21.

Kazakhstan’s athletes claimed five medals — two gold and three silver, delivering a strong performance at the home stage of the Asia Triathlon Cup.

The competition took place on August 8–9 at the Rowing Canal. More than 120 professional athletes, around 100 Age Group participants and 11 relay teams took part in the tournament. Athletes from Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Ireland, South Korea, Ukraine, Türkiye, Belarus, Chinese Taipei, Australia and the Philippines competed in Turkestan.

In the Elite category, athletes competed over the Olympic-distance format: 1500 m swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running.

Kazakhstan’s standout result in the category came from Arlan Zhanabay, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 1:47:07.

Arlan finished just 29 seconds behind the winner. AIN athlete Roman Mineev took gold in 1:46:38, while Japan’s Ren Sato finished third in 1:47:23.

 

In the women’s Elite race, Hanna Maksimava won with a time of 2:05:17. Gayeon Park finished second in 2:06:21, while Alina Khakimova took third in 2:07:23.

 

The tournament also featured the Asia Triathlon Junior Cup Turkestan 2026.

Junior athletes competed in the super-sprint format — 300 m swimming, 6.6 km cycling and 2 km running.

Kazakhstan achieved a golden double in the men’s race. Ramazan Ainegov won the competition in 21:59, while Gor Depershmidt claimed silver with a time of 22:04.

 

Kazakhstan also secured a double podium finish in the women’s race. Alua Nurmukhamet won gold in 25:26, while Kaleriya Shneider took silver in 25:48.

The Asia Triathlon Cup Turkestan 2026 programme also included paratriathlon, featuring an individual competition and four relay teams, providing athletes with disabilities an opportunity to compete as part of the international sporting event.

 

The inclusion of paratriathlon was an important part of the Asia Cup programme in Turkestan and highlighted the continued development of triathlon as an accessible and inclusive sport.

Overall, Kazakhstan’s athletes finished the Turkestan tournament with five medals — two gold and three silver.

Hosting international competitions of this level in Kazakhstan gives domestic athletes the opportunity to compete against some of the continent’s strongest triathletes on home soil, gain international experience and continue their pursuit of higher positions in the world rankings. The five medals won in Turkestan — two gold and three silver — represent a strong result for Kazakhstan and another important step in the development of national triathlon on the road to LA28.
