Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation 2021 event calendar review
Fans are accustomed to the fact that odd-numbered years in sports are often "passing", and even-numbered years are have large mass events: the Olympic Games, world championships, and other tournaments. However, 2020 has confused the cards.
The series of cancellations and postponements that began in March due to the pandemic captured all sports, and one of the most intense sporting events of the year turned not even into a "passing", but into the empty one. If the top athletes preparing for the Olympic Games in Tokyo were offered to spend another pre-Olympic season, then the hopes for all sorts of races were taken away from the Age Groupers.
After all, Age Group athletes train on enthusiasm, anticipating a feeling of euphoria from participating and finishing in races. These people are driven by love for triathlon and belief in the best.
It is with the belief that everything will work out that we are preparing for the start of the 2021 season. We believe that the members of the national team will compete for the four-year medals in Tokyo. We are looking forward to our team organizing and running triathlon races for Age Group athletes.
Passing 2020, which was named the worst year in world history, we begin the 2021 triathlon season and present the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation event calendar.
We are opening the long-awaited season in Nur-Sultan, where the Winter Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan will take place on February 21. Here only Age Group athletes will conquer the sprint distance of the winter triathlon.
Then the athletes will have time to intensively prepare for the most important start in the history of the Central Asian triathlon - the “Shymkent-Tashkent” race. On April 11, the race participants will swim 1200 m in the Zhailaukol park in Shymkent, will ride180 km to Tashkent, and finish the race with a 12-kilometer run in Tashkent.
The third start in the calendar and the first stage of the TEMIRADAM Cup will take place on May 2 in Kapshagay. Here the participants will start the race for the rating points of the TEMIRADAM Cup. The second stage of the Cup will take place on June 13 in Almaty at the sprint distance. The third stage of the Cup will be held on July 11 at a standard distance in picturesque Burabay. The next stage will take place in Kostanay on July 18. In a week, Age Groupers will have the opportunity to test the track of Pavlodar at the fifth stage.
The pre-final stage of the Cup will be held on September 12 in the west of the country - in Aktobe. It is noteworthy that in this city, in addition to athletes of the Elite, Age Group, PRO categories, paratriathletes will enter the start line for the first time. Traditionally, the TEMIRADAM Cup Final will take place in Aktau on September 26.
Under the auspices of the Central Asian Triathlon Association (CATA), five events are planned for 2021, the debut of which is the "Shymkent-Tashkent" race. The first stage of the CATA Cup will be held on May 15-16 in the capital of Uzbekistan, the second stage - on September 5 in Nur-Sultan, the third - on September 18-19 in Issyk-Kul. The CATA Cup Grand Final will take place on October 9-10 in the capital of Tajikistan - Dushanbe.
Also, favorite races in the personal calendars of Kazakhstanis will be Ironman Kazakhstan and Ironman 70.3 Astana, which will take place on August 15 in the Triathlon Park Astana.
The main news of the upcoming season is the resumption of the KTF club system, suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic, and the introduction of PRO athletes as part of the TEMIRADAM Cup.
This is such an interesting event calendar waiting for triathletes in 2021. Registration will be available soon at www.temiradam.com.
