Turkestan is preparing to host the republican triathlon tournament

The 2022 triathlon season will be opened in Turkestan. The capital of the Turkic world will host two-day huge events. In 2019, the triathlon start was held in Kentau, Turkestan region.

On the first day, professional athletes will come to the start line in the Park of the First President and will fight for the rankin points of the National Triathlon Cup. On the second day, amateurs will test the Turkestan track and the outdoor pool of the Olympic Center as part of the Gasenergy TEMIRADAM CUP Turkestan. Participation of 150 (50 professionals, 100 amateurs) athletes from Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Tashkent, Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda and Pavlodar regions is expected.

Participants will compete in the sprint distance, continuously overcoming 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running.

The organizers intend to identify the strongest athletes for the further formation of the national team, as well as to improve the level of skill and qualification of triathlon judges. The event is supported by: the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the general partner - the ERG Group, the Gasenergy premium gas station network, the amateur triathlon club Nomad TriClub, Unix LLP with the Tassay trademark.

As part of the implementation of the President's Address, Kazakh businessmen took the initiative and built the Olympic Center sports complex that meets all international standards. On the basis of this complex, Gasenergy TEMIRADAM CUP Turkestan will be held for the first time. I am very pleased that businessmen are investing their efforts and funds in the development of mass sports, children's and youth sports sections, and support sports events. All this contributes to the cultivation of future Olympic champions,” commented Timur Abilov, director of the Nomad TriClub.

“The opening of the season in Turkestan is important for us. The city was not chosen by chance: the location, weather conditions, the availability of the necessary infrastructure and the support of local authorities create favorable conditions for the development of the Olympic triathlon. In addition, the accredited Triathlon Federation of the Turkestan region has been functioning for a few years now,” said KTF sports director Sergey Mayer.

“A new cup system will debut in Turkestan, in which more than 50 athletes of the Elite, U23, U19 and U17 categories will perform in the absolute standings. We do not rest on our laurels and continue to experiment, finding the best methods for determining the strongest athletes. Thus, athletes of the Pro and Age Group categories will compete in an outdoor pool for the first time, continuing the race on the cycling and running track. And, of course, we continue to implement our program to attract residents of the regions to triathlon through certain sports. This time we will organize TEMIRADAM Challenge 10 km run for everyone,” explained S. Mayer.
