The opening of the triathlon season took place in Nur-Sultan

The long-awaited opening of the triathlon season in Kazakhstan took place today in Nur-Sultan. The Winter triathlon race was held among  Age group (amateurs) category in the Astana Triathlon Park. The race brought together 173 athletes from Karaganda, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions, as well as from Almaty and Nur-Sultan.

The participants were greeted by winter weather - minus 18 degrees. The athletes conquered the super-sprint distance, consisting of a 2 km run, a 3 km bicycle race and a 2.5 km skiing race.

The absolute winner among men was Alexander Isachenko with the result 25 min. 46 sec. In the category of women, the strongest was Aina Ussenova. The total time of the winner is 33 min. 37 sec.

As a reminder, the 2020 triathlon season was canceled by the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation due to the coronavirus pandemic. The winter triathlon competition was the first start for triathlon fans after the TEMIRADAM Cup Final, which took place on September 22, 2019 in Aktau. To date, the federation has announced a 2021 events calendar, which includes thirteen races.
